Walks, Trails And Hiking

There are numerous nature walks and trails in the area where you can enjoy the beautiful Peeblesshire countryside. We will list just three, but there are plenty of others detailed online.

1. Whitmuir Woodland Walk

A mile-long walk provided by Whitmuir Farm Shop which is located just five minutes from Whim House Retreat on the A701. The farm has a terrific restaurant for coffee or a meal afterwards.

2. Peggy's Pool Waterfall

A 2.7 miles (4.3 km) trail leading through woodland and past waterfalls. The entrance is located in the main public car park for Carlops, directly opposite the Carlops Village Hall

3. Mount Maw Summit

A 3.5 mile trail encompassing both Mount Maw Summit and the Baddinsgill Resevoir. Drive to West Linton (postcode EH46 7HL), then follow the unmade road (the "Loan") uphill out of the village — it's opposite The Gordon Arms pub and right of the Manor Garage. Continue past all the houses into open countryside. The public road ends at Baddinsgill Farm (grid ref NT 126 548), where there's a small open area for parking.
